Two Years of Artisanal Delights: How Bartholomew Bakery Continues to Thrive
Calling all pastry lovers! Bartholomew Bakery is celebrating its two-year anniversary on September 9, 2023.
We started out as a wholesale supplier of baked goods in 2018 and have since grown into a brick-and-mortar shop that offers a range of mouth-watering handcrafted artisanal breads, pies, and pastries.
From Humble Beginnings
Bartholomew Bakery is co-owned by Anthony Lavorato and Michael Sinikas. Both pastry chefs began their journey studying and working with expert chefs across Canada and Europe. Their goal has always been to create an authentic European café experience with delicious breads, pastries, and pies.
In 2018, Anthony and Michael began supplying baked goods to various cafes, hotels, and restaurants in the GTA. The dream of opening Bartholomew Bakery, as we know it today, became a reality in 2021.

We have always been fortunate to have bakers and front of house staff that trust our vision and represent the company to the best of their ability. We are continuously coming up with different recipes without compromising on our promise of creating handmade, natural baked goods.

Artisanal Delights: Signature Offerings
At Bartholomew Bakery, we are proud of the dedication, passion, and talent each member of our team exhibits when creating each and every one of our baked goods and handcrafted beverages. That being said, many of our loyal customers have “favourites”.
Our varieties of croissants and our renowned sourdough bread are our signature baked goods. For the sweet tooth, we have the popular strawberry-filled Tarte aux Fraise and our Blueberry Cheesecake.
Adapting to Challenges and Embracing Opportunities
As every other business knows, the past few years have been difficult, especially with the pandemic. But the main challenge that we struggled with at the beginning was getting our community to trust our vision and our products. We heard every comment about our sourdough, pastries, pies, and coffee. The main takeaway was that our products were different.
Evolving the business at that time to a contactless delivery program allowed us to continue our vision and goals. Today, we continue to offer this type of service four days a week in addition to our stand alone shop. And as time went on, our mission and views became clearer. We are finally in a position where our customers know where we are going and what we are doing.
Looking Ahead: Our Future Plans and Aspirations
Thanks to our amazing customers and staff, we have been able to grow from our humble beginnings. Now, we not only have the opportunity to share our artisanal baked goods with people in Vaughan and the GTA, but we’ve also created a welcoming place for people to gather.
To enhance this experience and welcome even more customers, we are expanding our current location! Once the renovations are complete, we will be able to provide customers, and our team, more space, resources, and baked goods to ensure everyone who stops by can get a taste of European tradition.
Visit and Celebrate Our Bakery's Two-Year Anniversary
In the past, we have hosted an Open House on September 9th to celebrate our anniversary. This year, however, our anniversary party will be delayed due to the renovations at the bakery. But hang tight! Once renovations are complete, we will open our doors for a party so that we can get to know all of you better.
